The Deoghar Police have arrested 11 cyber criminals from Pindari village at Sarath who have been duping people by posing as executives of banks and financial institutions.

The action came while acting on a tip-off. The police have seized 25 mobile phones and 35 SIM cards. Just two days ago, the police in the temple district had nabbed eight cyber criminals.

Deoghar Superintendent of Police Dhananjay Kumar Singh said the arrested criminals were in the age group of 19 to 27 years. They had adopted the same modus operandi to dupe people as that of the eight persons arrested two days ago. They rang up to the people by introducing themselves as customer care executives of banks and financial institutions and demanded their Aadhaar and PAN details to ostensibly help them open an account on their behalf.

“They duped people by adding the ATM card in the Add money section of the Phone Pe/paytm,” Singh said, adding that the criminals also used to convince customers to load remote access apps like Team Viewer and Quick Support and get access to OTPs received on mobile phones of the unsuspecting customers to transfer money from their bank account.
