As many as 120 surrendered Naxalites, who were rehabilitated under the State government’s naxal rehabilitation policy, witnessed first time the live proceedings of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. During the session, Presiding Officer Dharamjeet Singh, who was in the chair, informed the House that the surrendered naxalites had come to the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly to witness the proceedings of the house. He congratulated the surrendered Naxalites on their return to mainstream of society.
120 surrendered Naxalites including 66 men and 54 women visited the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly today. Among them were six former Naxal Central Committee members: namely Rupesh, Basava, Chaitu, Lalita, and Raju. While other Naxalites were ordinary members of the Naxalite organizations, watched the proceedings from the visitors’ gallery, those who were leaders in the Naxal Central Committee sat in the Speaker’s gallery.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai also met the surrendered Naxalites at Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly premises. The Chief Minister interacted with the surrendered Naxalites. Speaking to media Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that the State government would provide all help to the surrendered Naxalites under the Rehabilitation Policy.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Cabinet Ministers Kedar Kashyap, O P Choudhary, Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Principal Secretary Niharika Singh Barik, Additional Director General of Police (Naxal Operations) Vivekananda Sinha and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said in the House, “This is a historic day for Chhattisgarh Legilsative Assembly. This day has been etched in history. We welcome and congratulate the Naxalites, who have joined themselves in democracy.” He informed surrendered Naxalites had reached Raipur on Wednesday. They visited Tribal Museum yesterday. They also visited the Jungle Safari in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar.
Talking to media , surrendered Naxal leader Dhanvati alias Venkatesh, who was the central committee member and a resident of Premail village in Sukma district, said that he was delighted to visit the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. “I surrendered in September, 2025 and worked in Naxal organization till 35 years. Now time has changed so we decided to surrender,” said Dhanvati.
Surrendered Naxal leader Rajman Bhaskar, who was the member of Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee said “he was delighted to visit the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly”.
Surrendered female Naxal leader Ranita Dhruw, who was the member of the State Naxal committee, said that she was delighted to visit first time Raipur and Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. She said that she would learn how to serve the society with a development approach.
