The 24th State Level Shooting Competition started on Thursday under the aegis of Chhattisgarh State Shooting Association at the shooting range of the 4th Battalion located at Mana in the state capital.
The competition has been organized successfully for the last 23 years in a row with the courtesy of Jindal Group. Chhattisgarh Director General of Police (DGP) Arun Dev Gautam inaugurated the event. He looked at all the ranges carefully and started the competition with shooting trials. Gautam congratulated the Chhattisgarh State Rifle Association for the event and said that the youth should also see shooting as a natural sport and the youth should come forward, such an event will definitely give a new direction to the players of Chhattisgarh.
The special guest, Brigadier T S Bawa, COSA Commander, praised Jindal for the shooting event and said that there was no dearth of talent in Chhattisgarh. “We need to hone and bring those talents to the fore,” he added.
Through the event, the players of Chhattisgarh state will be able to prepare not only for the state but also for the national competition.
The other distinguished guests present on the occasion included Vikram Sisodia, General Secretary of Chhattisgarh Olympic Association and Pushkar Sharma besides Jindal Steel President Pradeep Tandon, Uday Pratap Singh and officials of Chhattisgarh State Rifle Association.
This competition will continue till September 6. Shooters from all the districts of Chhattisgarh are participating in it. Apart from 50m, 25m and 10m rifle shooting, pistol competitions will also be organized. The competition will be organized in both men and women categories.
