3/11 KV Substations inaugurated today in Wangoi & Yairipok, Manipur

In yet another initiative, two 33/11 KV Substations were inaugurated today in Wangoi and Yairipok, Manipur as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’

The sub-station was inaugurated by Th Biswajit Singh, Minister of Public Works Department, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Commerce & Industries, Power, Administrative Reforms & Training, Information & Public Relations and O Lukhoi Singh, Minister, Agriculture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Tourism Government of Manipur.

N Sarat Singh, MD, Manipur State Power Company Limited along with N Dwijen Singh, ED (Civil & Generation), MSPCL, H Shantikumar Singh, ED (Tech) MSPCL and MSPDCL DISCOM and officials from PFC were present on the occasion.

Power Finance Corporation, a Maharatna CPSE and India’s leading power sector focused non-banking financial company is the nodal agency for the project executed under IPDS scheme and Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL) implemented the project on behalf of Manipur State Power Distribution Company (MSPDCL).

 The inauguration ceremony began with the ceremonial lamp lighting by the dignitaries which was followed by a cultural performance by the local artists showcasing Manipur’s rich tribal and cultural heritage commemorating the celebration of 75 years of India’s Independence. As a gesture of goodwill, the villagers made ‘Athenpot’ offering to the Chief-guest, symbolic of the customary ritual in the Manipuri community.

While the LOA cost of the Wangoi substation is Rs 8.42 crores, the LOA cost of Yairipok substation is Rs 9.32 crores. The inauguration of these sub-stations will benefit close to 3000 households in both of these areas, thereby improving the quality of power supply and reducing the AT&C losses in these areas.
