3 CRPF jawan, driver killed in Chhattisgarh road mishap

Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans and a driver were killed in a horrific road accident at Dhamtari in Chhattisgarh on Saturday.

According to police sources, the incident took place in the limits of Arjuni police station area. The jawans were in a Swift Desire car bearing registration number MP17 ZH 4897 and were on their way to Raipur from Jagdalpur. Near Khapri bypass on National Highway 30, it collided with a truck.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the car was completely damaged and the bodies of the deceased were stuck in the car. The rescue team had to struggle hard and finally the bodies were pulled out after cutting the metal pieces with the help of a gas cutter.

The three jawans killed in the accident belonged to the 201 Battalion of the CoBRA, the elite anti-Maoist wing of the central para-military force. The driver also died while the condition of one is said to be critical.

The victims have been identified as Jawan Mukesh Kumar, Saurabh Tomar, Rajkumar Gond and the driver Hiralal Nagar, while one jawan Abhiyan Rai is said to be in critical condition.
