At least 3 jawans of Jammu and Kashmir police were martyred while 11 others were injured when militants fired on an armed police bus at outskirts of Srinagar on Monday evening.
According to police officials, the attack took place near Zewan in Pantha Chowk area this evening when the bus was moving towards police headquarters. The area has been cordoned off and a search operation launched to track down the assailants, the officials said, adding that further details were awaited.
One Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) besides two Constables were among the victims. The area has been cordoned off and a massive hunt has been launched in the area.
“Terrorists fired upon a police vehicle near Zewan in Pantha Chowk area of Srinagar. 14 personnel #injured in the attack. All the injured personnel evacuated to hospital. Area cordoned off. Further details shall follow,” Kashmir Zone Police said in a tweet.
