In a major breakthrough towards establishing lasting peace in South Bastar, 41 Maoist cadres surrendered on Wednesday under the Chhattisgarh Government’s “Poona Margaem: Rehabilitation to Rejuvenation” initiative.
The group carries a combined reward of ₹1.19 crore and includes 12 women and 29 men who have renounced the path of violence. The surrendered cadres primarily belong to the South Sub-Zonal Bureau, while members from the DKSZC, Telangana State Committee, and Dhamtari-Gariaband-Nuapada Division are also among those who returned to the mainstream.
As per official statistics, over 560 Maoists surrendered, 528 Maoists arrested and 144 killed in encounters from January 1, 2025 till date. The data compiled from January 1, 2024 to date underlined 790 Maoists surrendered, 1031 Maoists arrested and 202 neutralized in encounters.
This steady decline shows the collapse of a brutal and anti-people Maoist ideology and the establishment of peace-led development in the region.
