Rohtak, November 6

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament from Rohtak Arvind Sharma sparked off a controversy with a vile threat to the Congress leaders.

Sharma charged that he would “gouge out the eyes and cut off the arms” of anyone who opposed party colleague Manish Grover, who was held hostage by angry farmers inside a temple in Kiloi village in the Rohtak district on Friday. Grover along with a large number of BJP supporters had mobilised at the temple to watch Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Kedarnath visit.

“There is no doubt that the Rohtak Lok Sabha seat was won because of Manish Grover,” said Sharma, who is the MP from Rohtak. Warning the Congress and party leader Deepender Hooda, Sharma said, “If any eye is raised against Manish Grover, then that eye will be gouged out and if any hand is raised then that hand will be chopped off. (We) will not spare.”

The farmers protesting against the farm bills struck at the temple and gheraoed it from all corners. Besides Grover, minister Ravindra Raju, Rohtak MP Manmohan Goyal and BJP leader Satish Nandal were stuck inside. Grover and others were kept as hostages inside the temple for nearly eight hours, after which he was seen outside with folded hands.

Soon after getting the information, police rushed to the spot and freed the BJP leaders.
