Maoists abduct five villagers in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma

Suspected Maoists have reportedly abducted five villagers in the Konta block of Chhattisgarh’s restive Sukma district.

Though police sources could not be contacted, report reaching from Sukma said that the five villagers belonged to Bater village located in the interior area of the district. While four villagers were abducted on Friday, one held captive on Saturday, sources added.

The rebels have however not yet claimed that they had taken five people hostages. But there was no information about the missing villagers. The statement issued by the Sarva Adivasi Samaj however endorsed that the Maoists had abducted the villagers for the reason yet to be asserted.

The Sarva Adivasi Samaj has appealed the Maoists to release the villagers without harming them.
