NMDC’s production up by 15 per cent in August

State-owned National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) had registered impressive growth in production and sales during the month of August 2020.

The company produced 1.62 million tonne (MT) of iron ore against 1.41 MT in the corresponding month of August last year and registered a growth of 15 per cent in the production.

The sales were recorded at 1.79 MT against 1.49 MT in the month of August 2019. There had been an increase of 20 per cent in the sales recorded in the month of August as compared to figures of previous year’s corresponding period.

The Bailadila Projects at Chhattisgarh has produced 1.01 MT in August 2020 as compared to last year’s production of 0.79 MT of iron ore in the month of August 2019, and has registered growth of 28 per cent in production.

The total sales of iron ore from Bailadila projects in the month of August 2020 were 1.27 MT against 1.05 MT in August 2019; up by 21 per cent than the previous year.

The Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NMDC, Sumit Deb expressed happiness over the performance of the company. He said: “The Year 2020 is a difficult year but NMDC has managed to overcome difficulties and perform better. Despite the global pandemic and heavy rainfall in the Chhattisgarh area we have managed to outgrow our performance over last year.”
