The ministry of coal has revised the list of mines that would go for auction; dropping the five blocks located in Chhattisgarh’s ecological sensitive pocket.
Besides, it had included three coal mines from Chhattisgarh in the list. The ministry had released the list of 38 coal blocks that would go for the auction process for commercial mining. The process was launched on June 18, 2020.
The ministry said following revisions have been made by the Coal Ministry in the list of coal mines offered in the process of opening up of coal sector and introduction of coal mining. Chhattisgarh’s three coal mines Dolesara, Jarekela and Jharpalam-Tangarghat had been added to the 1st tranche of auction under the MMDR Act, 1957.
Morga South Coal Mine had been withdrawn from auction from the 1st tranche of auction under the MMDR Act, 1957, the ministry notification said, adding that the other mines in Chhattisgarh that had been withdrawal include Fatehpur East, Madanpur (North), Morga-II, and Sayang Coal Mines.
Therefore, 38 coal mines are offered for auction for commercial mining under 11th tranche of auction under CM (SP) Act, 2015 and 1st tranche of auction under MMDR Act, 1957.
