The index of mineral production of mining and quarrying sector for the month of September, 2021 (Base: 2011-12=100) at 95.1, was 22.3 per cent higher as compared to the level in the month of September, 2020.
The cumulative growth for the period April- September, 2020-21 over the corresponding period of previous year has decreased by 15.2 per cent.
Production level of important minerals in September, 2021 were: Coal 518 lakh tonne, Lignite 35 lakh tonne, Natural gas (utilized) 2840 million cu. m., Petroleum (crude) 24 lakh tonne, Bauxite 1436 thousand tonne, Chromite 144 thousand tonne, Copper conc. 9 thousand tonne, Gold 116 kg, Iron ore 153 lakh tonne, Lead conc. 31 thousand tonne, Manganese ore 169 thousand tonne, Zinc conc. 133 thousand tonne, Limestone 292 lakh tonne, Phosphorite 80 thousand tonne, Magnesite 11 thousand tonne and Diamond 51 carat.
The production of important minerals showing positive growth during September, 2021 over September, 2020 include: Chromite (152.4 per cent), Magnesite (66.8 per cent ), Lignite (48 per cent ), Gold (11.5 per cent ), Coal (8.3 per cent ) and Iron Ore (3.4 per cent ).
The production of other important minerals showing negative growth is: Diamond (-93.3 per cent ), Phosphorite (-40.4 per cent ), Bauxite (-9.2 per cent ) and Petroleum (Crude) (-1.8 per cent ).
