The 55-year-old Chilean lawyer, Pablo Cánovas, has a fascination for India and its rich culture. And the charm for the glorious Hindu beliefs and tradition has influenced him so much that the master’s degree holder in economics and taxation has decided to translate the Rig Veda in Spanish language.
Pablo has also studied defence, with specialization in the European region and is a yoga practitioner since he was 18 and. He does Sadhana every day. Having studied the Bhagavad Gita deeply, he has been lecturing on it for the past decade in various Yoga centres.
“I have studied the Bhagavad Gita, for about 15 years, even teaching it in study circles. And, five years ago, after reading some comments from Aurobindo, about the Vedas, and how they had been misinterpreted by the western mind, I decided to study the text of the Rigveda directly,” Pablo told Huma Siddiqui of the Financial Express.
He began to study Rigveda (an ancient Indian collection of Vedic Sanskrit hymns) and was surprised, since what he was reading did not coincide with any of the comments that he had read, from different analysts, even Indian commentators.
“So after five years of study, taking advantage of the pandemic, I felt that I should share it and I began to record it on youtube, with comments from different scholars, and some small contributions that I dared to make,” he said.
In translation, he is currently finishing the first Mandala, but in videos there are 6 introductory videos recorded.
