South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), the flagship arm of state-run Coal India Limited (CIL), celebrated its foundation with gaiety.
Chhattisgarh-based largest coal producing company started operation 36 years ago. Interestingly, it produced 36 million tonne of coal in the first year of operation.
SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) A P Panda unfurled the company flag and dedicated the newly built “Shaheed Smarak”, and paid floral tributes. The Director Technical (operation), M K Prasad, Director (Finance) S M Choudhary, General Manager (Personnel and administration) A K Saxena along with senior officials of the company and union representatives were present on the occasion.
“The sapling planted 36 years ago has now taken the shape of a tree under whose shadow we, our family members and stake-holders are standing with a commitment for progress and prosperity,” Panda said while addressing the gathering to mark the occasion. In the first year itself, the company’s output was 35 million tonne while it had touched over 150 million tonne and maintained it for the last three years in succession, he said, adding that SECL had been contributing to the country’s development by feeding the dry fuel demand.
The SECL CMD expressed his gratitude towards all those who helped in the growth of the company. “It is now our responsibility to continue the progress and prosperity of the company,” Panda added.
