The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) today issued appointment letters to 49 project affected persons (PAPs) for the non-executives posts in its 1600-Mw Lara super thermal power station.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has taken the initiative to fill the vacant 76 posts reserved for the PAPs in Lara located in state’s Raigarh district. A meeting was convened on March 3, 2019 to expedite the process.
The NTPC issued advertisements and initiated the process, but only six persons could qualify. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister asked the NTPC management to relax the process so that others could also qualify.
Country largest power producing company conducted the exam for the remaining 73 posts. In the fresh attempt, 49 candidates qualified. At a function held in Raigarh that Baghel attended through a virtual platform, the appointment letters were handed over to the selected candidates.
The remaining 24 posts are reserved for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes. According to Raigarh district officials, the posts would remain vacant as there was no eligible PAP and needed to be de-reserved.
Baghel directed the NTPC officials to take initiative with the Government of India to de-reserve the posts so that others could be accommodated.
Executive Director of NTPC Lara Alok Gupta said the company had always given priority to the PAPs in the recruitment and had been maintaining full transparency.
The district authorities informed that besides regular recruits, NTPC Lara has engaged 500 people in contract jobs and has executed numerous projects under the CSR head.
