Congress rally for BJP removal

Jaipur, December 12

The Congress staged a mammoth rally against inflation in Jaipur on Sunday, calling upon the people to oust the BJP from the power at the Centre.

The Congress leaders alleged that the BJP was taking the country on the path of destruction.

Addressing the rally, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said India is a country of Hindus and not Hindutvadis and called for their ouster from the power. “This is a country of Hindus, not Hindutvadis. If there is inflation in the country and there is suffering, then this has been done by Hindutvadis. Hindutvadis want power in any condition,” Rahul Gandhi said. The rally was earlier scheduled to be organised in New Delhi but was shifted to Jaipur after failing to get permission.

Congress Working President Sonia Gandhi, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, K C Venugopal and senior leaders of the party were also present.

Rahul targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying his friends have “ruined” the country. “Modi ji and his three-four industrialist friends ruined the country in seven years,” he alleged.

The Congress leader explained the difference between Hindu and Hindutva. Rahul said just as two living beings cannot have one soul, two words cannot have the same meaning. A Hindu is one who is not afraid of anyone and embraces everyone, Rahul Gandhi said. “Mahatma Gandhi was a Hindu and Godse was Hindutvadi, the Congress leader said, stressing that a Hindu continuously searches for truth and spends his entire life for the search just like Mahatma Gandhi. But, in the end, one Hindutvadi fired three bullets in his chest,” he said.

Hindutvadi spends his entire life for power whether he has to beat of kill someone, he said. “This is Sattagrah and not Satyagrah,” Rahul said. “I am Hindu and not Hindutvadi,” he added. He said, “Hindutvadis have to be ousted once again and the rule of Hindus have to be brought in the country.”

Earlier, speaking at the rally, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the Union government, alleging it wanted to sell to its industrialist friends whatever her party had built in 70 years.

Massive cutouts of the members of the Gandhi family were seen at the rally’s venue in Vidyadhar Nagar. Among others, Chief Ministers Ashok Gehlot of Rajasthan and Bhupesh Baghel of Chhattisgarh, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leaders Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Kamlal Nath, Sachin Pilot, Ajay Maken, Adhir Ranjan Chowhdhury, K C Venugopal and Pawan Bansal were present on the occasion.
