NMDC pledges Rs 10 crore to Chhattisgarh for Covid care

State-run National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) had donated Rs 10 crore to the relief fund created by Chhattisgarh government to combat Covid-19.

Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NMDC Limited Sumit Deb handed over the cheque to chief minister Bhupesh Baghel during a meeting held to discuss the operation and activities of the country’s largest iron-ore producer and exporter in the state.

This was Deb’s maiden meeting with the Chhattisgarh chief minister after taking charge as CMD of NMDC. During the meeting, Deb gave detailed information about various NMDC projects going on in Chhattisgarh.

The chief minister expressed satisfaction over the work being done by NMDC in Chhattisgarh. Discussions were also held about the ongoing activities in the steel plant at Nagarnar and it was decided that further action in this regard would be taken keeping in mind the interests of Chhattisgarh and the country.

They also discussed new mines in Chhattisgarh during the meeting. Iron Ore Deposit No. 4 was also discussed and the Chhattisgarh government assured full support in this regard.

“It was a pleasure meeting with the Hon’ble CM Shri Bhupesh Baghel ji,” Deb said. They had a very positive interaction and the CM’s guidance would help the company to serve Chhattisgarh, and the country in a productive way, he added.
