Four IPS officials test positive for Corona in Chhattisgarh

Four senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officials were tested positive for COVID as the novel virus inflicted scare in the Chhattisgarh police headquarters today.

The officials include Inspector General Sanjeev Shukla besides two Deputy Inspector General namely Vineet Khanna and Rajesh Agrawal. A woman IPS official has also been infected by the virus.

The Corona blast in the state police headquarters has created panic among the junior officials. More suspects are likely to be discovered as the officials have asked the subordinates who have come in their contact to conduct the COVID test.

The police headquarters had recently organised the conventional new year gathering.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel yesterday said the state was heading for the third wave of COVID-19. However, no case of new variant Omicron has been traced in the state.

The State IPS Association has postponed its annual conclave scheduled to be held on January 16.
