Ex-Congress MLA arrested for threatening

The former Congress MLA from Dhatia in Madhya Pradesh, Rajendra Bharti was arrested on Thursday morning on the charges of threatening and abusing a person.

One Radhabai Mongia has lodged a complaint against Bharti, who has represented Dhatia assembly constituency four times, for abusing her and threatening. Besides threatening to kill, the former lawmaker was also charged under SC/ST atrocities act.

The Mongia family has been staging dharna for the last one week demanding immediate action against Bharti. The Sahariya Adivasi Parishad also took out a massive rally in the town to mount pressure on police to take action against the Congress leader.

On Thursday morning, police party reached the residence of the ex-MLA and took him in the custody. The COVID test was conducted before the police completed the formalities of formal arrest.

A large number of Congress leaders reached the police station soon after getting information about the action. Later, the submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police seeking impartial enquiry and release of Bharti.

About two years ago, Bharti’s nephew Nikhil was arrested in connection with irregularities in the ware house.
