After farmers and women, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is now eyeing urban voters to consolidate its political position ahead of ensuing Bihar polls.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of seven projects related to urban infrastructure in Bihar on 15 September via video conferencing.
Out of these, four projects are related to water supply, two to sewerage treatment and one to riverfront development. The total cost of these projects is Rs 541 crore. The implementation of these projects has been undertaken by BUIDCO under Urban Development and Housing Department of Bihar.
Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar and chief of NDA ally JDU, will also be present on the occasion.
The urban projects include sewerage treatment plants built under Namami Gange, at Beur and Karmalichak, water supply projects built under AMRUT Mission in Siwan Municipal Council and Chapra Municipal Corporation. Both these projects will help local residents get pure drinking water 24 hours a day.
The foundation stones for the water supply scheme at Munger and Jamalpur besides, Muzaffarpur Riverfront Development Scheme and developing three ghats of Muzaffarpur (Poorvi Akhada Ghat, Seedhi Ghat and Chandwara Ghat) will also be laid. The development of the riverfront will also boost tourism and make it the centre of attraction in future.
The series of projects for the urban infrastructure development is aimed to sway the people staying in the cities. Earlier, the Prime Minister had inaugurated projects related to pisciculture and gas pipe line besides gas bottling units that would target the rural and women voters.
