SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Universal Rail Mill (URM) that rolls out the world’s longest 130 metre rail in single piece and supplies 260 metre long welded rail panels to Indian Railways achieved ever best day records in production of R260 grade of rails in 60E1 profile on February 4, 2022.
URM rolled out the highest number of 361 blooms into R260 rails with 60E1 profile on Friday, surpassing previous best of 359 blooms rolled on August 2, 2021.
The Mill also recorded best prime rails acceptance of 95.55 per cent as against previous best of 95.4 per cent on July 23, 2021.
The excellent performance by team URM was made possible with the support of the Plant’s Steel Melting Shop 3 that supplies blooms to URM, Research and Control Lab (RCL), the Transport and Diesel Dept, M/s RITES and all other associated departments.
