Posing for a selfie with gold smuggling accused Swapna Suresh has cost dear to Kerala policewomen.
The Thrissur police commissioner has instituted an inquiry against a section of policewomen who took selfie with the gold smuggling accused Swapna Suresh while she was admitted to the Medical College hospital in Thrissur.
Swapna had earlier complained of chest pain and was rushed to the hospital with six women constables as escort.
The policewomen could not restrain the prying for the woman who had stirred Kerala politics with the busting of racket and her high profile political connections. In the preliminary statement, they told superiors that they took selfie out of curiosity.
The senior officials said action against the policewomen could be taken after getting the enquiry report.
Meanwhile, the nurses at the hospital also landed in trouble as Swapna Suresh allegedly contacted some high-profile people via mobile phone from the hospital. However, the nurses had denied providing a phone to the accused.
In another development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) team has recovered phone chats of the accused Swapna Suresh with VIPs.
She had saved the screenshots of the chats on Google Drive. NIA believes that she had saved these personal chats to blackmail the VIPs. The NIA had recorded these facts in the case diary.
Meanwhile, the investigating agencies are trying to find the links between Swapna Suresh and a son of a minister in the state. The pictures of them partying together were circulated on social media.
