As part of Bhilai Steel Plant’s sustained efforts to improve the quality of iron ore from its Mines, a project for setting up a Silica Reduction Unit has been taken up at the Dalli-Rajhara Iron Ore Complex.
SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant has its own captive iron ore mines in Dalli-Rajhara Iron Ore Complex, situated about 80 kms from the Plant that has been meeting the iron ore requirement of the Plant for over six decades.
Bhoomipujan or ground-breaking ceremony for the new Silica Reduction Unit at Dalli Mechanised Mines in Dalli-Rajhara Iron Ore Complex was performed by Director I/c Bhilai Steel Plant Anirban Dasgupta on Monday.
Being set up at an estimated cost of Rs 129 crore, the Silica Reduction Unit will reduce silica content in iron ore mines from Dalli Mechanised Mines and at the same time, also help in stopping slurry to flow into Hitkasa pond. The new unit is being set up by M/s BSBK.
Speaking on the occasion, Dasgupta stated that this new initiative will lead to improvement in quality of iron ore for Bhilai Steel Plant and at the same time will also lead to better environment conditions at the Mines. Expected to be completed by the end of November 2022, the project for the new unit will consequently lead to development of the mining region and the state.
Present on the occasion were Manas Biswas, Executive Director (Mines and Rowghat), A K Bhatta, ED (Projects), Anurag Upadhyay, CGM (Centre for Engg and Technology) SAIL Tapan Sutradhar, CGM (Mines and Rowghat), Samir Swaroop, CGM (Rowghat), other senior officers and employees of Iron Ore Complex, union representatives and senior officers representing M/s BSBK.
