Team News Riveting

While the opposition Congress party was anticipating junior Finance Minister Anurag Thakur would repent for his remark in Parliament for which Lok Sabha Speaker intervention, the BJP young leader returned with a bang.

He had done no wrong, Thakur fumed, stating that he was pained after repeated adjournments in the house because of his comments on former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and the Gandhi family.

Deflecting the demand for PM CARES to be brought under the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) orbit, Anurag Thakur said, “Those who are demanding CAG audit for this trust (PM CARES), are they ready for the audit of all the trusts being managed by one family?”

Condemning the attack on the Gandhis, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury took on the minister alleging that Thakur failed to maintain the decorum of the House by referring to former leaders. There were rules for raising such issues, he said, adding that the BJP had been charging that Congress had scammed the taxpayers but not one allegation could be substantiated.

Thakur however cleverly diverted the issue and put the ball on the Congress court; attacking Congress chief Sonia Gandhi for going abroad for treatment and alleging a diversion of funds besides misuse of properties by foundations controlled by the Gandhis.

He alleged that the foundations were getting funds from ministries and public sector companies.
