It is worth mentioning here that the Hot Strip Mill-2 had rolled its first coil on 31st  January 2020. However because of the COVID-19 pandemic and other issues the stabilization process got delayed. On 31st October 2021, the 2nd coil was rolled and thereafter the coil rolling process was streamlined and speeded up.  Since then the Mill has rolled out more than 1,65,000 Tonnes of coil while 1,40,000 Tonnes of coil has been dispatched through rail as well as road.  Recently the Mill rolled slabs of width 2150 mm and 2020 mm width, which is a noteworthy success.

The Hot Strip Mill-2 with 3 Million Tonne per annum (MTPA) capacity is a state-of-the-art mill with few parallels in India and will be producing world-class hot rolled (HR) coils. The Mill has been set up at a cost of more than Rs. 3000 Crore and will enrich the product basket and will enhance the Company’s market share and will be a game changer for  RSP in the long run.

With high level of automation, this mill would produce coils of Carbon Structural Steel, High Strength Low Alloy (HSLA) steel, High Carbon Steel, LPG Cylinder Steel, Low Alloy Steel, API (up to X100) Pipe Steel and Auto-grade steel. The thickness of the coils would be between 1.2 mm to 25.4 mm, while the width would be between 725 mm to 2150 mm. The maximum coil weight will be to the tune of 35 tonnes. Equipped with the latest and sophisticated technology, the Mill will meet the stringent requirements of the customers in terms of quality, finish, dimensions and other parameters.
