BSF’s weapon class in Koraput college

Border Security Force (BSF) Koraput on Tuesday organised a dog show in Vikram Deb (Autonomous) college, Jeypore (Koraput) and displayed arms, ammunition besides special equipment used by the security forces to defend the Nation. 

The weapons on display in the event that was part of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” initiative included small arms, assault rifles including hand grenades, UBGL (Under Barrel Grenade Launcher), Mortars, LMGs (Light Machine Guns), MMGs (Medium Machine Guns), HHMD (Hand-Held Metal Detectors), Thermal Imaging Devices, Night-Vision equipments and explained their functioning to the students.

The dog show organised on the occasion was also the highlight of the function that enthralled the students. The aim was to make students aware of how committed is BSF for national security and how they train the canines to serve along with the security forces for the country.

Madan Lal, DIG, BSF Koraput, Ajay Kumar, Commandant, 151 Battalion BSF, Colonel Navin Parashar, 1st Odisha Infantry Company (NCC Jeypore) were present along with Gopal Halder, Principal of Vikram Deb (Autonomous) college and faculty.

The DIG interacted with the students and explained to them about the evolution of arms and advanced development of weapons with technology and how the Arms enable them to perform the assignments. He quoted that such shows and programmes would generate passion among the students to go for the security forces as a career. He also emphasized that several outreach programmes being organised by the BSF in service of humanity such as Civic action programme, medical camps, awareness programmes among the students, sports activities and distributing sports items to inspire the youth.

Large number of Students witnessed the display with overwhelming response. BSF personnel explained about the weapons and its functioning to the visitors.  

Principal of the college thanked BSF for conducting the programme that gave them a rare insight into arms and Equipment. Appreciating the BSF for its efforts in building the Nation by guiding and motivating the students for an inclined career, he said such programmes will instill patriotism among the youth and students.
