The annual rate of inflation based on All-India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) number is 15.18 per cent (Provisional) for the month of June, 2022 compared to previous year’s corresponding period.

This is marginally lower than the WPI number of 15.88 per cent in May, 2022, reported to be highest in last three decades. However, another month of double-digit wholesale price inflation in June means the wholesale prices have remained above the 10-percent mark for 15 months in a row.

A government data released today said that the high rate of inflation in June, 2022 is primarily due to rise in prices of mineral oils, food articles, crude petroleum & natural gas, basic metals, chemicals & chemical products, food products etc. as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.

The Food Index consisting of ‘Food Articles’ from Primary Articles group and ‘Food Product’ from Manufactured Products group have increased from 176.1 in May, 2022 to 178.4 in June, 2022.
