HNLU to hold 5th convocation on July 31

Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) Raipur will be holding the Fifth Convocation Ceremony on July 31.

The event will be held from 9.30 am to 11.30 am at a hotel in the state capital.

Justice N V Ramana, Chief Justice of India, will be the chief guest for the Convocation and will deliver the convocation address. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghelwill be the guest of honour. Justice S Abdul Nazeer, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Visitor, HNLU will preside over the ceremony while Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh and Chancellor, HNLU will award the Degrees.

Justice M R Shah, Judge, Supreme Court, Mrs. Justice B V Nagarathna, Judge, Supreme Court, Mohammad Akbar, Chhattisgarh Minister of Law, Umesh Patel, Minister of Higher Education, Prem Sai Singh, Minister of Tribal Affairs, Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court, Justice Sanjay K Agrawal, Justice P Sam Koshy, Judges of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, Justice (Retd.) Deepak Gupta, Justice (Retd.) G Raghuram (former Director, NJA Bhopal) and Satish Chandra Verma, Advocate General of Chhattisgarh will attend the convocation.

Other Eminent Jurists who will attend the convocation include Prof.Ranbir Singh, Pro Chancellor of IILM University, R Venkataramani, Senior Advocate of Supreme Court, Prof. Paramjit S. Jaswal Vice Chancellor of SRM University at Sonepat, Prof.V Vijaykumar, Vice Chancellor of NLIU Bhopal, Govind Miri, Senior Advocate, Shri Agarwal – Senior advocate, Dr. Nirmal Shukla Senior Advocate at Bilaspur, Secretaries of Government of Chhattisgarh  and other distinguished legal luminaries of the State.

The Convocation will witness conferment of degrees upon 160 students from the B.A.LL.B. (Hons) Batch of 2015-2020, 147 students from the B.A.LL.B. (Hons) Batch of 2016-2021, 49 students from the LL.M. Batch of 2019 – 2020, 61 students from the LL.M. Batch 2020-2021 and 4 students for Ph.D. A total of 246 students who will take the degrees in this convocation, will be taking the degree in-person and others will be taking the degree in-absentia.

During the Convocation Ceremony, a total of 23 students will be awarded with Gold Medals for their outstanding performance in academics in HNLU which includes, the Chancellor’s Gold Medal, The University’s Gold Medal, Chhattisgarh State Bar Council Gold Medal, The Late Kamal Narayan Sharma Gold Medal, Late Smt. Shantidevi Agarwal Memorial Gold Medal, Shri Vidyadhar Mishra Memorial Gold Medal, Dinesh Prasad Srivastava Memorial Gold Medal, Late Shri Hamidullah Khan Ex-MLA Kabirdham Gold Medal, Late K.P. Munshi Gold Medal, Syed Wakil Ahmed Rizvi Gold Medal, amongst other significant medals.

HNLU will also be releasing the HNLU Journal of Legal and Social Studies which is published under the aegis of HNLU Press. Prof. (Dr.) V C Vivekanandan said “It is the tenacity of the graduating students of  batches of 2020 and 2021  to endure the hardships of COVID to succeed in their completion of their courses and moving ahead in their career. Equally to be complimented is the efforts of the faculty and staff in delivering the services in such tough times. The University also places on record its sincere thanks to the Chancellor and Governing bodies to support and guide the affairs during this period.”
