Patna, October 3
A stable government in Patna had been the mantra of all political parties but the alliance had been reeling under rickety even as Bihar plunged into election mode.
While the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has been facing a kind of revolt from LJP of Paswans, the mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) led by RJD is exercising hard to keep its house in order.
In a fresh episode, Vikashsheel Insaan Party (VIP) abandoned the grand alliance alleging that there is “defect in the DNA” of Tejashwi, who is leading the RJD.
Charging the leader of opposition and CM candidate of RJD, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav with stabbing the VIP on its back, VIP chief Mukesh Sahani left the press conference as soon as Yadav announced the seat sharing arrangement for the coming assembly elections.
Last month, two other partners namely RLSP and HAMS had deserted the alliance.
At the press conference itself, supporters of RJD and VIP present in the hall of a leading hotel near Gandhi Maidan clashed. Security personnel of Tejashwi took him into cover and escorted him out of the hotel.
VIP is headed by a leader of the fishermen community. Supporters of VIP shouted anti-Tejaswhi slogans and pledged to ensure the defeat of RJD candidates as the leader of the extremely backward caste was humiliated.
Sahani was angry as he was given only four seats out of 144 seats allotted to RJD. He had met Tejaswhi earlier in the day at 10, Circular Road bungalow of former chief minister Rabri Devi but felt RJD dodged his outfit in seat sharing.
He said the DNA of Tejaswhi was defective as he did not meet his commitment. Earlier, Tejaswhi had claimed his DNA was pure and of Theth Bihari (Confirmed Bihari), who never tells lies.
RJD got 144 seats out of 243 constituencies under the seat sharing arrangement, 70 was given to the Congress, 19 to CPI(ML), CPI 6, CPM 4. Congress was offered Balmikinagar Lok Sabha constituency where a by-election is scheduled.
Addressing the press conference, Tejaswi said in the very first cabinet meeting of his government, the first decision would be to hand over employment letters to one million youths and waive all fees and charges for applying for government jobs.
Hathras incident also figured during the press conference. Leaders observed two minutes silence in the memory of Hathras Nirbhaya. Tejaswhi alleged in Bihar, four cases of rapes were reported every four hours.
Now, all eyes are set on the NDA camp.
