RJD took an escape route for the Bahubalis in the coming assembly elections and fielded the wives of jailed leaders as its candidates.
Election Commission in its guidelines had directed the parties to justify fielding of candidates with criminal antecedents and display advertisements in local newspapers three times before polling.
Vibha Devi, wife of Raj Ballabh Yadav, who had been convicted on charges of kidnapping and raping a minor girl, has been fielded from Nawada. Kiran Devi, wife of Arun Kumar Yadav, sitting RJD MLA has been nominated from Sandesh.
Arun is absconding for the last two years and faces charges of kidnapping and raping a minor girl. On orders of the court, his property had been attached.
RJD asked Rama Singh, charged with murder and kidnapping to field his wife from Mahnar. Former union minister, Raghuwansh Prasad Singh had protested against admission of Rama Singh in the RJD.
Children of top RJD leaders are also in the fray. Sudhakar Singh, son of the state RJD president, Jagdananad Singh will contest from Ramgarh, his father’s traditional constituency.
Rahul Tiwary, son of the national vice president of RJD, Shivanand Tiwary will contest from Shahpur. Rishi Singh, son of the former union minister Ms Kanti Singh, Divya Kirti, daughter of former union minister Jaiprakash Yadav have also been given party nominations. Younger brother of Jaiprakash,Vijay Prakash, would also try his electoral fate on RJD ticket
