Tata Steel organised Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Awards ceremony in a hybrid mode applauding winners for their contribution towards the excellence journey.

The award was instituted in FY20 to recognise concerned employees role as leaders in Safety, Health and Environment. Through this, company aims to motivate and inspire them to excel further in this journey. Tata Steel practices fair and just approach to reinforce the importance of responsibility and accountability at it’s workplace and also wishes to take opportunities to recognize and motivate employees for demonstrating commitment and leadership.

Chief Guest on the occasion, T V Narendran, CEO and MD Tata Steel reiterated the importance of active display of leadership by each and every employee of the company to create the desired culture that will ultimately help the company achieve its vision of being a global steel industry benchmark in value creation and corporate citizenship. Guest of Honour was Sanjeev Choudhary, President Tata Workers’ Union (TWU). He stressed upon TWU’s constant support in this journey of Safety, Health & Environment.

Sanjiv Paul, Vice President Safety, Health & Sustainability thanked the Senior Leadership Team and Jury Members for engaging in the assessments to assess the right candidates, who would be deserving of these Apex awards.

This year’s theme for SHE Excellence Awards was: Lead, for a Better Tomorrow. Raghavendra Hegde, Sand artist from Karnataka and Atul Khatri, English standup comedian graced the event with their commendable performances.

Notably, Tata Steel embarked on the journey of Environment excellence in all areas of it’s operations and aspires to be the industry benchmark in Environment Management. This year for the first time, Tata Steel introduced best of the best department Award in 5S & Visual Workplace Management. This initiative was started in the last financial year with a goal to reduce the low potential injuries and to control the associated risk.

For the first time, company introduced the Green Cross Trophy this year. This prestigious award was given to the department that had Zero Loss Time Injury in operations & maintenance for the last 3 financial years.
