The Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of the ruling UPA coalition in Jharkhand returned to Ranchi today evening after spending six days in Chhattisgarh capital.
The 32 MLAs were shifted to Raipur on August 30 by a chartered plane fearing poaching by the BJP given the political uncertainty prevailing in the state following a pending case of office of profit against Chief Minister Hemant Soren. It is reported that Soren has been indicted in the case by the Election Commission of India and the Governor, Ramesh Bais may announce the disqualification (if so) soon.
The two MLAs, who are also ministers, returned the next day to attend the cabinet meeting. The UPA MLAs were housed in a luxury resort in Nava Raipur, the upcoming new capital city of Chhattisgarh.
The MLAs arrived in Ranchi in a chartered aircraft on Sunday afternoon to attend a special session of the assembly. The aircraft that took off from Swami Vivekanand Airport in Raipur landed at the Birsa Munda Airport around 6 pm. They were taken to the circuit house.
The lawmakers had returned to attend the special session of the assembly convened on Monday. The MLAs had been asked to camp in the circuit house where a heavy security arrangement has been made.
The members were straight away go to the assembly from the circuit house.
