Amrit Lal Meena today took over as the Secretary in the Ministry of Coal.
Prior to assuming the present post, Amrit Lal Meena, 1989 Bihar Cadre IAS officer, was holding the charge of Special Secretary (Logistics), Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
Meena succeeded Dr Anil Kumar Jain, who was superannuated from service on Monday.
A Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) in electrical engineering from Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur, Meena did his Post-Graduation Diploma in Public Policy and Management from IIM, Bangalore.
In his home cadre, Meena had served as District Magistrate in five districts of Bihar State for over nine years. As Secretary in Government of Bihar looked after various Departments including Rural Development, Urban Development, Building Corporation. He also worked as Principal Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary in Road Construction Department, Government of Bihar building a better and sustainable network of roads in Bihar.
Roads and bridges infrastructure projects have got massive speed during his tenure. There has been commendable addition of new bridges on major rivers and four-lanning of highways.
