The 5-day Vedvyas Sangeet Nrytotsav-2022 organised under the aegis of Bhanja Kala Kendra at Bhanja Bhavan open air auditorium, Rourkela concluded on Saturday.

The audience were in for a visual treat when the dance exponents in the concluding evening captivated them with nimble footwork and enthralling performances. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge (DIC), Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) graced the concluding evening as the Chief Guest while Dr. Subhankar Mohapatra, IAS, ADM, Rourkela was the Guest of Honour.   

Extending greetings to the organisers on the silver jubilee of the prestigious festival the DIC said, “Vedvyas Sangeet Nrutyotsav has influenced the social and cultural life of Rourkela   and the festival is a major attraction of the cultural landscape of the city.”

Reiterating the commitment of the plant to promote art & culture, he said, “RSP has   been making continual efforts to further enrich Indian Cultural heritage and to reach out to every segment of the society.”

Dr. Mohapatra in his elaborative thought provoking address spoke on the importance of performing arts for the holistic growth of the society.     

The dignitaries released a souvenir to mark the occasion. The programme unfolded with a Group Hindustani Brunda Gayan by Guru Binapani Rath and other artists of Bhanja Kala Kendra. A Scintillating Kuchipudi dance recital by renowned exponent Dr. Vasant Kiran and his troupe from Bengaluru mesmerized the audience.

The artists presented ‘ArdhaSankaram’ depicting the balance in the world and nature because of the perfect sync between Prakruti the mother or goddess Parvati and Purusha the father , Lord Shiva. It was followed by an enchanting Odissi Dance performance by the alumni group of Bhanja Kala Kendra on Mangalacharan Laxmi Stuti.

A riveting folk dance performance by Laxman Paudwal & his troupe from Mumbai enthralled the audience. Foot tapping Jodi Sankha & Ranappa presentation by the troupe from Ganjam was the other highlight of the evening.   

Mr. Aseem Behera, Advisor, Bhanja Kala Kendra delivered the welcome address. Mr. Radha Krushna Mohapatra, AGM (Instrumentation), RSP & Vice President, Bhanja Kala Kendra coordinated the inaugural function. Mr. Sasanka Pattnaik of Public Relations Department, RSP and Ms. Koyena Dastidar anchored the show.
