Chhattisgarh: Security forces gun down four Maoists

Security forces gunned down four Maoists including two women cadre in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Saturday.

Based on a specific information regarding the presence of Bhairamgarh Area Committe Naxal cadres near Pomra jungle under Mirtur Police Station limit of Bijapur District, a joint operation was launched by Bijapur District Reserve Group, Special Task Force of Chhattisgarh Police and the CRPF.  While the troop was searching the area of Pomra jungle, rebels opened fire on the DRG party.

The jawans immediately took the position and retaliation, forcing the Maoists to fled from the spot. 

Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P, Superintendent of Police Bijapur District Anjaneya Varshney and DIG CRPF S K Mishra informed that during the search operation that followed, bodies of four rebels were discovered from the spot. It included two female cadres, they added.

The officials said a huge cache of arms and ammunition including .303 rifle, one. 315 rifle, two country made weapons, explosives, Maoists camping materials, and other daily use articles were also recovered from the spot. The identification process of the bodies was in progress.

The officials said additional reinforcement of DRG, STF and CRPF had cordoned the area and continuing the search operations.
