Bihar police on Wednesday simultaneously raided hideouts of the 2011 batch IPS officer, Aditya Kumar, who had been declared an absconder by a local court.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by Bihar police raided an apartment at Vashundhara in Ghaziabad, Civil Lines in Meerut and Vasukunj apartment at Saguna More in Patna, according to Nayar Husnain Khan, Additional Director General of economic offences wing of Bihar police.
He said Aditya had been wanted in a case registered under Prevention of Corruption Act and offence of criminal conspiracy. His application for anticipatory bail was rejected by Patna High Court last month.
During search at his residence here, Rs 20 lakh in cash was recovered. Aditya was suspended following his alleged involvement in violation of prohibition laws during his posting as Gaya Superintendent of Police.
A case was also registered against him. He is charged with using his friend Abhisek Agarwal to influence the Director General of Police, S K Singhal, through fake calls of the Chief Justice of Patna High Court asking the police force chief to drop the case against the suspended Superintendent of Police.
The DGP could not suspect the calls and he ordered withdrawal of case against the IPS officer.
Following the complaint of Patna High Court administration that chief justice never telephoned DG of Police, his friend was arrested and FIR was lodged against Aditya too.
