The special vigilance unit of Bihar police lodged an offence under different sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code against Magadh Inspector General of Police Amit Lodha.
The action came a day after state police conducted a series of raids in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to nab Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Aditya Kumar, who is also wanted in connection with corruption cases. Interestingly, Aditya was Superintendent of Police at Gaya where Amit was his superior as Inspector General of Police.
According to SP of the special vigilance unit of Bihar police, charges of corruption, abuse of authority against IG were earlier examined at the police headquarters and home department. Amit is charged with attempting to convert black money into white.
He and Kaumudi Lodha had received royalty in their bank accounts too from the production company of a film based on Amit Lodha performance. He had written books and acted in films without seeking government prior permission.
After getting the inquiry reports, an FIR has been lodged against the IG, the Vigilance Superintendent of Police said, adding that IG was engaged in commercial activities for his promotion and profit and invested money in the documentary Khakee telecast on NETFLIX and Friday storyteller, which was not expected from a government servant.
Former additional solicitor general S D Sanjay has alleged Amit Lodha had invested Rs 116 crore in the Khakee film and promoted his activities as hero in the film. In the district and sessions court here, he has alleged Amit had created problems for SP, who is facing arrest.
State government had suspended SP following registration of an FIR at Fatehpur police station at Gaya, where Amit was zonal IG. It was alleged Aditya had association with illicit liquor traders.
