Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has come forward in a new role in the last one and a half months.
This is the role of a teacher, a subject expert. In his new and unique role, the Chief Minister is giving detailed information about the PESA Act to the tribal brothers and sisters like a teacher. He is also telling the people present in all such Pathshala of the Chief Minister that he has not come to give a speech but to teach them about the PESA Act.
Chouhan is not doing this for the first time. Even before this, during the ‘Aao Banaye Madhya Pradesh’ Yatra, he interacted with the students of Bhopal’s Model School as a skilled motivational speaker. Not only this, he has also played the role of an efficient yoga teacher in front of school students many times.
In fact, the PESA Act is the most important link in the efforts initiated by the Chief Minister to integrate the tribal community in the state and make them empowered. This Act gives the tribal community the right to water, forest and land. Last November 15 became historic for Madhya Pradesh, when the Chief Minister got it implemented in 89 tribal-dominated development blocks of the state in the dignified presence of President Smt. Draupadi Murmu.
Ever since, Chouhan started a campaign to make them socially and economically strong by giving detailed information about the provisions of the Act to the tribals. Since then, the Chief Minister has been playing the role of a teacher by conducting PESA Act awareness programmes in tribal development blocks. His way of explaining the provisions of the PESA Act closely to the tribal community like a teacher himself is very unique.
In such a situation, this pathshala of the Chief Minister is very much liked by all. The Chief Minister’s style of explaining things to the villagers is completely different, due to which the tribals are not only able to understand the Act well but are also getting impressed.
The Chief Minister is continuously running the PESA Act awareness campaign in tribal-dominated development blocks. By leading this campaign himself, he is also playing the role of a catalyst for the departmental officers. All-round efforts of the Chief Minister are continuing to make the tribal brothers and sisters aware of their rights after the implementation of the PESA Act.
Training from master trainers has also been started in the targeted development blocks by setting a training program at the state level. Cooperation of social organizations is also being taken in this important work. Along with the PESA Act, the Chief Minister is also bringing awareness about the schemes of the central and state governments run for the tribals.
Chouhan’s process of explaining the qualities of the Act to the tribal community citing examples and telling its benefits continues, the communities are also understanding it and implementing it. Gram Sabhas have also started being held in many tribal villages regarding the PESA Act. He also participated in these and encouraged the tribals.
The Chief Minister has also appealed for cooperation in the effective implementation of the PESA Act by inviting the recently elected Sarpanchs to the conference.
