Security forces gun down Maoist in Chhattisgarh

Jagdalpur, December 20

A Left-Wing Extremist was killed in an encounter with the security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Tuesday.

A joint team of District Reserve Group and Special Task Force (STF) of Chhattisgarh Police launched a operation in the forests of Timnar and Porowada under Mirtur police station. The action came following a tip off about the presence of Maoists cadre from the Bhairamgarh area Committee.

During the action, the security forces encountered with the rebels. Following befitting reply from the security personnel, the rebels skipped into the forests.

The security forces launched a massive search operation and discovered the body of a Maoist cadre. Besides arms and explosives, other materials were also recovered from the spot.
