Alert in Bihar following Gaya, Patna reporting COVID positive cases

After 12 Buddhist tourist found infected with COVID at Bodh Gaya, 135 km south from here, a 26- year- old woman on Monday night tested corona positive at Dulhin Bazar village, 30 km Patna.

State health society on Tuesday issued guidelines for the district magistrates and asked them to associate local panchayats, urban bodies, police, child and women welfare department in detecting corona cases and ensuring vaccination.

At the annual conclave of Buddhist monks and pilgrims, Bodh Gaya turned into a hot bed with 12 tourists being isolated and sent to their country’s monasteries in the town in containment. Administration asked the pilgrims attending the conclave to wear face masks. Entry to the Kal Chakra Maidan, where Dalai Lama is giving sermons has been restricted and only those having negative certificates are being allowed.

Officials at Gaya said those coming to join the conclave are being screened at Bodh Gaya international airport and Gaya railway station. About 60,000 pilgrims have come from 12 countries. One pilgrim coming to Bodh Gaya was detained at Netaji Subhas Bose airport in Kolkata.

Travel agencies at Patna and Ranchi on Tuesday admitted large scale cancellation of bookings to Goa, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra as news about spread of corona started circulating.

At Ranchi, health minister, Banna Gupta, said thermal screening of passengers has started at Ranchi and Deoghar airports. Those entering Jharkhand by road from Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, UP and Chhattisgarh borders are asked to face corona tests.

He claimed 1456 ventilators equipped and 11356 oxygen equipped beds in Corona wards have been readied.
