Rourkela, December 30
The trial landing of Alliance Air ATR-72 Aircraft at the Rourkela Airport was smoothly and successfully conducted on Friday afternoon.
Senior officials of the Odisha government, Rourkela Steel Plant, Airport Authority of India besides representatives of Hockey India were present on the occasion. They included Ms. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Skill Development, and technical education dept. and additional charge of Principal Secretary to govt Commerce and transport department, R Vineel Krishna, Special Secretary to CM and Secretary Sports and Youth services, Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge, Rourkela Steel Plant, Ms. Debadutta Suranjita Jena, Additional secretary, Commerce and Transport, Dr. Gavali Parag Harshad, Collector, Sundargarh, Dr. Subhankar Mohapatra, ADM, Rourkela, Mukesh Kumar Bhamboo, SP, Rourkela, and P K Satapathy, ED (P&A), RSP.
The dignitaries congratulated the pilots on smooth landing of the aircraft. Soon after the Aircraft took off from the Airport and returned to Jharsuguda.
It is worth mentioning here that the Rourkela Airport received the 2C license from Director General of Civil Aviation on 19th December 2022 for operation of commercial flights.
With the successful trial landing and takeoff of the ATR-72 Aircraft the regular operations will begin soon from the Airport.
