Two IAF fighter planes crash in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, January 28

Two fighter jets of the Indian Air Force (IAF) have crashed near Morena in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday morning.

The two jets, a Russian origin Sukhoi 30 MKI and a French origin Mirage 2000 had taken off from Gwalior on Saturday morning and were part of an exercise. The crash took place in Pahargarh near Morena.

Sources said the planes caught fire after the crash. IAF officials said the details would be shared once the ground situation is assessed.

The fate of the pilots is not known. The Sukhoi was being flown by two pilots while the Mirage had one pilot.

The IAF has ordered an inquiry.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is in touch with CDS Gen Anil Chauhan and IAF chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari. He is gathering details on the crash from them.
