Vikash Vaibhav, an Indian Police Service (IPS) of 2003 batch officer posted as Inspector General of civil defence, home guards and fire services, has alleged the Director General abused him and family besides calling him Bihar.

The IPS said DG Ms Shobha Ahotkar, an IPS officer of 1990 batch, abused his wife and mother and called him “Bihari”. Hurt by the abuses, he claimed, since October last year, “I wish I could give up the responsibility”.

Messages sent to both Vaibhav and Ahotkar failed to get any response.

Vaibhav who has started “Let Us Inspire Bihar movement and addresses students on weekend at different places, tweeted at 1.43 am(night): “Every day, I am hearing abuses from the mouth of DG madam…I am deeply hurt today”. He had proceeded on a 60-day leave.

On Thursday morning he wrote in his face book, “Felt mist hurt, when she abused my wife and mother too. She could not control her anger as she was denied elevation as the main DG of Police by the Chief Minister. She was not found suitable as DG of police by CM. This is the height of her frustration as DG of civil defence and home guards as she is not able to hold her tounge.”

Vaibhav further wrote in his post “Greatmen from Maharashtra, like Chhatrapati Shvaji Maharaj have inspied me. They are my ideals”, he wrote in an obvious reference to Ms Ahotkar who is from Maharashtra married to a Bihar cadre 1990 IAS officer.

R S Bhatti, 1990 batch IPS, was appointed DGP in December last year.

Ms Ahotkar had entered into an ugly spat in May 2022 at Visheshwariya Bhawan, state secretariat building here with the district magistrate of Patna Chandrashekhar Singh. She had scolded the senior SP of Patna and alleged local police was incompetent. DM defended the Patna police and told her they are performing their duties when building had caught fire.

This is the second incident of this kind when senior officers have allegedly abused their juniors.

Last week, Additional Chief Secretary K K Pathak was heard abusing Deputy Collectors and Biharis, calling them useless. Vaibhav ‘s tweet scans have gone viral  in the state.
