Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the ambitious Ladli Bahna Yojana is not a ritual but it heralds social revolution in the state.

Earlier, Ladli Laxmi Yojana was started, but now the Ladli Bahna scheme has been kicked off for the sisters, Singh said. If the sisters are prosperous then the family will be prosperous, he said. Economic problems of middle and poor class sisters will be solved. This scheme will bring prosperity in their life. When women have money, the condition of the house will change. Women are being given their rights in Madhya Pradesh. Their dignity is being taken care of. The pension of old women will be increased from Rs 600 to Rs 1000.

Chouhan said that women should live with self-respect, atrocities will not be allowed on the land of the state. To make women strong, Ladli Bahna Sena will be formed in every village. Sisters will be involved in this, who will work for the safety of women. He said that the homeless would be given land to live on. The tribal class also has the right on water, forests and land. They have been given powers under the PESA rules.

The Chief Minister said, “I am always ready for the welfare of women. Many decisions have been taken by the state government for the empowerment of sisters. For political empowerment along with providing reservation to women in elections for Panchayat and urban bodies, arrangements have been made for 50 percent reservation in teacher recruitment and 30 percent in police recruitment to provide opportunities in government services. The daughters also proved their talent in this. The state government gives exemption in the registration fee for getting the land registered in the name of a woman”.

Asserting that Ladli Bahna Yojana is a scheme that came out of his heart. Through the scheme, now an amount of Rs.1000 per month will be given in the accounts of the poor, lower middle-class sisters. This amount will prove beneficial for women struggling with financial constraints. The nutritional level of children will improve and there will be sweetness in the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.

In the Women’s Conference, the sisters of 500 gram-panchayats of the district expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for launching the Ladli Bahna Yojana by offering a 101-feet long rakhi. The Ladli Bahna badge was also pinned to the Chief Minister as a symbol.
