Som Distilleries expanded canning plant starts commercial production

The newly expanded canning facility of Som Distilleries and Breweries Limited (SDBL), an arm of Madhya Pradesh-based Som Group, has started the commercial production.

The trial run of the plant started on March 23. “We are now pleased to announce that our expanded canning line at Bhopal has commenced commercial production. This marks an exciting milestone for our company as we expand our product offerings and increase our production capabilities,” the company said in a regulatory filing.

This will also enable the SDBL to take advantage of the peak consumption season of beer, it added. With the launch of the canning line, the company is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for canned beers in the market, and look forward to delivering value to its customers and shareholders, SDBL said in the statement.

At the meeting held on December 9, 2022, the Board of Som Distilleries and Breweries reviewed and noted that the Company is executing an expansion plan of approximately Rs 100 crore for setting up a new canning facility and other utilities at the Bhopal Plant of the Company and expanding the Brewing Facility in Hasan Plant of its WOS i.e. Woodpecker Distilleries and Breweries Private Limited. The company expects to complete the expansion in time so as to prepare for the summer season.

Incorporated in 1993, Som Distilleries and Breweries Ltd. is one of the leading alcoholic beverages manufacturers in India engaged in the manufacturing and sale of Beer and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).
