Chhattisgarh: Literary bash on Ehsaas banner

Ehsaas, a conglomeration of women groups under the initiative of the Prabha Khaitan Foundation, organised a literature festival “Kalam” with great pomp and show.

“Kalam” celebrates the power of literature and the impact it can have on society. Gitanjali Shree, the first Hindi Bookers Prize winner, who was present at the event to share her insights on writing and literature.

“Universal appeal and awards do expand my horizon, give me a larger community and a larger world to learn from, but this can’t be the mover and shaker of my writings,” said Geetanjali Shree during the kalam event held by the Ehsaas Women of Raipur.

Gitanjali Shree is a renowned author and has made significant contributions to Hindi literature through her novels and short stories. Her work has been recognized both nationally and internationally, and she has received several awards and accolades for her contribution to the field of literature.

During the event, Gitanjali Shree shared her experiences as a writer and spoke about the importance of literature in shaping society. She emphasized the need for writers to be socially conscious, inclusive and pluralist in their writing style and use their work to bring about positive change in the world. She also stressed that though languages have their own boundaries, it’s up to us whether or not to make those boundaries rigid.  She also stressed the need to create avenues for language graduates and enthusiasts.

The audience was captivated by Gitanjali Shree’s insights and her eloquent articulation of the power of literature. Her words left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance, inspiring them to continue their own literary pursuits and to use their work as a means of contributing to the greater good.

According to the organisers, the event was a resounding success. “We can only hope that events like Kalam will continue to inspire and encourage future generations of writers to use their voices to create a better world,” they said.

Sristi Trivedi delivered the welcome note. She is a lawyer turned entrepreneur and founder of Project Getout a local community venture and a fellow Ehsaas Woman. The conversationalist for the evening was Aanchal Garcha. She is the founder of Budding Bookworms – an exclusive reading, writing and language enhancement program for children, co-founder of Oorja Ladies Society and Literati, the first local book club and a fellow Ehsaas Woman.

Prabha Khaitan Foundation is dedicated to the social, cultural and educational advancement of society. The Kolkata-based NGO runs humanitarian projects across the country which include women’s training centres, child literacy programs, and aid drives.

Ehsaas is an initiative of the Prabha Khaitan Foundation and a conglomeration of women from all walks of life who are graceful in their own ways and inspire others for the betterment of society.
