Coal miners were awarded for their outstanding performance as Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) celebrated Miners’ day on Monday with much fervor and zeal.
The event was hosted by Jagannath Area, Talcher Coalfields. J K Borah, Director (Technical) was the chief guest and inaugurated the function lighted the lamp. A K Behura, Director (Finance) and other senior officers of MCL fraternity, representatives of Trade Unions and Officers’ Association & employees attended the celebration.
More than 150 coal miners of MCL were honored for their outstanding performance in different categories.
While addressing the gathering, Borah expressed his gratitude to the miners for their hard work & sincerity which has elevated MCL to No.1 position in coal production and despatch, meeting to the growing demand of coal to the power sector in our country.
Lakhanpur open cast project was awarded the best Open Cast Project, HBI Orient Area, the best underground mine and Hingula Area was awarded with the coveted Malpuri trophy for best area in overall performances.
The celebration was filled with colors by the folk artist displaying the various colours of Odiya culture in their dance, which was the main attraction of the cultural programme of the eve.
