Goa CM criticised for anti-Bihari remarks

RJD and JDU leaders are angry over the reported statement of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant that 90 per cent of the crimes in his state were committed by migrant workers from Bihar.

Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, regretted Goa Chief Minister statement and said, “After Union Minister Piyush Goyal, now, Goa CM has made defamatory comments on Bihar and Biharis. He has insulted the people of Bihar. He should apologise for his comments”, Tejashwi said.

He alleged BJP and its leaders were hell bent upon humiliating Bihar and Biharis. The Union government has also not given due to Bihar.

Niraj Kumar, MLC and principal spokesman of JDU said, “Pranmod Sawant has insulted the entire Bihar people.” He claimed it was because of the hard work by the migrant Bihar, Goa could be developed. It is shameful, its CM is alleging 90 per cent of the crimes were being committed by migrant Bihari workers who return to the state after committing crimes in Goa.

He added Goa CM has committed a linguistic crime by his speech and tried to put Bihar as bad.

Goa chief minister had made anti-Bihari comments on Labour Day at Panaji and had suggested all migrant workers to have labour cards as their authentic identity card. 

Umesh Kushwaha, JDU state president too criticised Sawant and said his statement has hurt Biharis. Chief Minister should immediately apologise to the Bihari migrant workers staying in his state.
