NMDC slashes iron ore prices

National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) Limited has slashed the prices of iron ore for the second consecutive month.

While the price of lump has been reduced by Rs 300 a tonne, the price of fines has been cut by Rs 450 a tonne.

The country’s largest iron ore miner said it had fixed the prices of lump ore at Rs 3900 per tonne and iron ore fines at Rs 3560 per tonne. The prices exclude royalty, District Mineral Fund (DMF), National Mineral Exploration Trust (DMET), cess, forest permit fee, and other taxes. The revised prices had come into effect from May 29, 2023, the NMDC Limited said.

This is the second month in row when the NMDC Limited has slashed the prices of steel making raw material. In the last revision that came into effect from April 29, the company had fixed the prices of lump ore at Rs 4200 per tonne and iron ore fines at Rs 4010 per tonne.

In March, NMDC had increased the price of iron ore lump by Rs 100 a tonne and that of fines by Rs 200 for a similar quantity. Consequently, the price that came into effect from March 21 was fixed at Rs 4,500 for a tonne of lump ore and Rs 4,110 for fines.
