Raipur, June 8
Students who had secured positions in the merit lists in board examinations would go on a helicopter ride, courtesy Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Chhattisgarh government.
Aimed to motivate the students, Baghel had organised a chopper trip for the meritorious students last year too. He had announced that the state government would take the talented students, who secured positions in the merit lists in examinations conducted by the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), for a helicopter trip this year too.
“The meritorious students of the 2023 board examinations would take a joy ride on the helicopter on June 10,” a state government spokesperson said. The Chief Minister will also honour them with certificates and cash prizes.
The episode started during Baghel’s visit to Raghunath Nagar in Pratappur assembly constituency during Bhent-Mulakat. Smriti, a student of Swami Atmanand School, expressed her desire to the Chief Minister to ride in the helicopter. Baghel responded and assured to fulfil her wish once she topped the 12th board examination.
However, Smriti was adamant to fly the same day with the Chief Minister. Baghel realised her fancy and decided that he would give wings to brilliant students. The Chief Minister later announced helicopter rides for the students who came in the merit list of class 10th and 12th.
Last year, 125 students were felicitated with flying. The programme is executed through the ‘Swami Atmanand Medhavi Chhatra Protsahan Yojana’.
